Li’s Home Adornments explore the ever-present connection between two-dimensional forms and three-dimensional objects, and the transformation of one into the other through the processes of drawing and making. Abstracting motifs from plants and flora to create raised wallpaper inspires the form of each piece of jewellery. Cast and 3D printed pieces experiment with different processes of creating three-dimensional works from abstract two-dimensional forms.
Jewellery pieces, designed with the wallpaper, are created to be worn on the body, reminding the wearer of home. When no longer in use, the pieces are reunited with the wallpaper as three-dimensional home adornments, creating unique compositions and embellishing the interior space. Through their dual presence on the body and in the domestic space, Li’s works extend the preconceptions of jewellery’s decorative function. challenge perceptions of the home, enriching any space with creativity and aesthetic pleasure.
