At Future Heritage
Future Heritage was a new platform for Lorenz’s practice, she was delighted to be chosen by Corinne Julius to exhibit as part of a selected group of highly creative and individual makers in a range of disciplines. Lorenz created a series of new pieces for Future Heritage in 2019 including a freestanding three-panelled room divider. Each panel consists of two meticulously hand cut layers of coloured aluminium grids, held in a simple frame. Held in subtle light and dark grey tones, the work is entirely handmade, a one off, sculptural screen for a special space.
Lorenz also displayed a set of double walled silver vessels, which consisted of a solid outer form and a perforated inner vessel. The reflective quality of highly polished silver is set against the brushed inner form to create depth and a sense of illusion. Alongside that, she presented an installation of floating wire sculptures; wire balls in three different sizes, which can be used as containers. Finally, Lorenz created a paper wall triptych for Future Heritage, made of layered and framed, cut paper. The grid is used in the work and starts in an orderly manner and finally gives way to a dynamic movement in the final part of the work.
