THE DECOREX 2025 BAR

Each year, we handpick a talented designer to create the central bar at our event, which takes on a new form with stunning furniture and a unique theme, and this year is no different.

This year's bar is being designed by Lucy Mayers for Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, with the inspiration being a rich autumnal garden. This space aims to make the Decorex bar feel more intimate, allowing it to be the perfect space for networking purposes.

THE VISION

"My inspiration for the Main Bar at Decorex 2025 is a rich autumnal Garden. Hanging tented ceilings and marquees will be used to conjure up a liminal space that is both indoor and outdoor but neither fully one nor the other. The fact that we use them to house celebrations from weddings to the village fete made this feel quintessentially British and thus a nice fit with what Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler are more often known for. However, I wanted this to be a riff on that 'English Garden' and instead make an autumnal garden, as the smells and colours of autumn are more louche and decadent, which in turn implies a level of sophistication that felt more appropriate to me for a bar."

Lucy Mayers – Decorator at Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler

THE DESIGNER

Lucy Mayers began her career with Robert Kime, running his Kensington Showroom and smaller retail projects for six years before joining Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler in 2013. She trained with Emma Burns before being made a decorator in her own right in 2023.

NOTABLE PROJECTS

She has worked on high-profile private commissions with Emma all over the world, including an estate in Wisconsin, a villa in Mustique, a palazzo in Palm Beach, as well as numerous town and country houses in the United Kingdom, and for her own clients this last year in Geneva and London. House & Garden have described her work as "theatrical" but with an "instinctive sense for how to create a comfortable, liveable interior amidst the theatrics".
