Hanny Newton

Hanny Newton

Hanny is passionate about exploring a contemporary approach to metal thread embroidery. Since studying at the Royal School of Needlework, she has been fascinated by the inherent qualities of metal threads and holds a deep belief in the importance of innovation and self-expression to ensure a place for craft in the modern age.

Lara Pain is an award-winning textile artist and handweaver based in South London. Drawing on a strong interest in placemaking & visual storytelling, she specialises in bespoke site-specific textiles for residential and commercial projects.

From fabric meterage and soft furnishings to large-scale art installations, each piece is thoughtfully handwoven by Lara in her Deptford studio. Drawing on the creative process, which involves close collaboration with clients and a keen eye for site-responsive narrative, every outcome is wholly distinct.

Pamela Print is an award-winning weaver and textile artist creating handwoven artworks and functional interior pieces.

Her environmentally and ethically conscious practice, adopts a no-waste approach, with collections drawing influence from nature and the ethos & aesthetic of the traditional sustainable crafts of Kantha & Boro. Fabrics are woven by hand using natural yarns and plant dyes, combining double cloth and hand-dyeing techniques, creating an illusory ‘embroidered’ effect.

Pieces can be fully customised to suit the client.

The Marchmont Workshop, founded by award winning designers Richard Platt and Sam Cooper, is one of the last homes of the rush-seated chair. A heritage craft that until 2018, when Rich and Sam apprenticed with mentor Lawrence Neal, was in danger of dying out.

Valérie’s practice is rooted in the traditional craft of wet felting and the manipulation of textiles as an expressive art form. Taking the rural environment as her inspiration, Valérie creates contemplative semi-abstract artworks rich in climate, texture and light. These are highly textured pieces in which cloth is embedded and threads unravelled, as a painter with her brush.
