Sustainable Innovation Award: Tamasine Osher

Tamasine Osher was awarded the Sustainable Innovation Award for their GRAIN lamps, which repurpose waste timber from storm-felled or surgeon-felled Ash trees into lathe turned translucent lights. Each lamp is crafted by hand, showcasing the natural beauty and history of the wood while preserving the heritage craft of woodturning.

By collaborating with tree surgeons and local landowners, Tamasine Osher ensures each lamp is sustainably sourced. The GRAIN lamps highlight the intersection of sustainability and craftsmanship, offering a unique lighting solution.

Circularity Award: Naturalmat

Naturalmat won the Circularity Award for their innovative approach to the circular economy in mattress production. Using natural, renewable materials like organic coconut fibre, natural latex and organic wool, they produce high-quality, environmentally friendly mattresses. Naturalmat has set a goal to create a fully closed-loop mattress service by 2025.

Their Mattress for Life Initiative™ ensures their products are recycled or refurbished, preventing waste from reaching landfills. Their mattresses have always been designed for disassembly, meaning every component can be taken apart and either composted, reused or recycled, and now customers can choose to Refurbish, Recycle or Donate their mattress when it reaches the end of its life. Naturalmat also minimises waste by producing to order and using reusable packaging, which has reduced plastic waste by over 5,000kg.
