Sally Storey’s top lighting picks at Decorex 2015

Category:

Sally Storey, Design Director at John Cullen Lighting, developed her passion for lighting whilst training as an architect at Bristol University. Now considered one of the country’s leading lighting experts, Sally spends much of her time travelling all over the world to design lighting schemes for individual and corporate clients. With her classical and understated approach to lighting, Sally has been responsible for designing numerous town houses, penthouses, apartments, country houses, villas, chalets and yachts around the world.

She religiously attends Decorex for inspiration, to source lighting for projects and to see the trends coming through. We asked Sally to pick out her top lighting brands to visit at the show and which pieces she is really looking forward to seeing...

The lighting exhibited at Decorex last year was amongst some of the most creative and exciting products at the show and I am sure this year will be no different.  Pieces and brands I am looking forward to seeing are:

1. Ochre London on stand B32 and their Celestrial Pebble Wall Light

I loved last year’s pebble pendant so I can’t wait to see Ochre's creative solution to make the Celestrial Pebble as a wall light at Decorex this year

2. Best & Lloyd on stand G27 and the Flo range

The subtlety of combining coloured and clear glass works is a speciality of Best & Lloyd, and their Flo range of lights shows this off to best effect.

3. Bert Frank on stand F34 and their Yew Wall Light

I have a Bert Frank task light at home and love their Yew Wall Light as it is a play on light and shade with its pierced metal shades.

4. Copper & Silk on stand F39 and the Aster

This is a lovely contemporary brass and glass chandelier which would be ideal for use in a hotel.

5. Cox London on stand B30 and the Ferro Vitro

I love the inspiration from Giacometti's drawings reflected in this sculptural and contemporary LED fitting.

6. CTO Lighting on stand D31 and the Nimbus Wall Light

I can see that this handmade brass and bronze wall light would look good in a panelled room or an industrial chic setting.

7. SERIP on stand J41 and the Aqua chandelier

An incredible statement piece which would look wonderful in the corner of a room.
