Brief Brand Bio:
Hyde House actually launched at Decorex in 2008, the partners behind Hyde House, Richard Searle and Joanna Hauptman decided to create and launch this concept when they noticed a great gap in the market for affordable but sophisticated British made bespoke furniture. Richard Searle, expert British furniture maker, has been making bespoke furniture for thirty years, specialising in supplying leading interior designers and the general public. Hyde House’s workshop boasts the best British talent, utilising traditional skills in furniture making, creating beautiful and very high quality pieces. Bringing together years of experience, as well as formal training at the London College of Furniture, the Searle family truly are a British institution.
If you could sum up your brand in 3 words, what would they be?
Innovative, Quality, Service-orientated
Who or what is your biggest inspiration and why?
I began my career in high fashion and as a result have a very broad range of influences from Fornasetti to Karl Lagerfeld, from Horst P Horst to David Downton – I really seek inspiration far and wide but my best designs seem to come to me when I am lying in bed at night brainstorming!
What brings you to Decorex this year?
We are terribly excited to be at Decorex this year, foremost because we have been secretly working all year round on a brand new innovation which we will be exclusively launching at the show. Called “RESINATE’ ™ we have engineered an incredible resin that allows us to use wallpaper in rigid form as an inlay finish for all furniture – we feel this will revolutionise the design world allowing designers to specify an option of finishes that are endless – giving every single piece of furniture a uniqueness that is unmatched.
Can you tell us about your plans for the show?
I have decided to use RESINATE ™ in its most arresting form and the stand will truly showcase how versatile a finish it is – we are hoping to inspire our clients by presenting so many different forms of use – including wall panelling, cabinetry, trimming to upholstery, trays as well as launching an amazing brand new collection of bespoke furniture. This range has key decorative elements that are highly distinctive and stylish including using nickel inlay in joinery to match with hand studding on upholstery. There will be a new range of nest tables, cocktail cabinets and fret work which we have become known for since we launched the fret work collection at Decorex in 2010.
What are you most looking forward to at Decorex 2014?
I look forward to catching up with other exhibitors with whom we have great relationships. Obviously I enjoy seeing the exciting and imaginative new launches across the exhibition too. Also I have no doubt that Syon House will prove to be a magnificent setting so I look forward to getting to know it better!
