Decorex 2014: Highlights in Pictures

We can't quite believe that it has been two weeks since we were indulging in high end design in the beautiful surroundings of Decorex 2014. Since the doors closed to the show we have been busy collecting all of the wonderful show coverage into our live blog, talking all things Decorex on social media, and of course, pouring over the thousands of stunning images we have from our four days at Syon Park.

With this in mind, we have sifted through all of our images to find our highlights of Decorex 2014 - which is no mean feat. With so many highlights to choose from, we decided to give you an overview of our 2014 best bits...enjoy!

This year saw a Decorex entrance like never before, with collaborations between some of the industry's most renowned designers and brands. Visitors to the show were treated to not just one, but eight installations as part of our Georgian themed Rakes Progress entrance. Below are just a couple of highlights, you can see all of the entrance vignettes here.

Each and every year the Decorex Exhibitors excel themselves and by far exceed expectation with the effort and thought behind their beautifully designed stands at the show, and this year was certainly no exception. Each year a panel of esteemed Decorex judges take to the show floor to choose winners of our three award categories: Best New Exhibitor, Best International Exhibitor, and Outstanding Contribution. We announced the winners live from the show on the first day of Decorex in our Awards blog post. On the final day of the show, exhibitors are asked to vote for one of their fellow brands as their Best Stand at the show. This year's winner was the ever innovative The Little Greene Paint Company and deservedly so!

The Decorex International Seminar Programme is an ever-anticipated feature of the show, and this year our selection of renowned industry speakers did not disappoint! From the standing-room only session for Sue Crewe of House & Garden's final seminar, to fantastic presentations from William Yeoward, Christopher Jenner, and Daniel Hopwood, the Syon Park themed theatre was full of activity throughout the duration of the show.

In a first for Decorex, In The Making featured four live working instillations, giving an inspiring insight into the intricate work that is involved in producing some of the show's most-loved products - from rug weaving with Front London, to wallpaper blocking with Watts of Westminster, live plaster moulding with Locker & Riley, to detailed passementerie with Spina.

Last, but by no means least, we take a look at the wonder that was the Lapicida Tent. Setting the scene with a rather mysterious build-up in the weeks before the show, we were excited to see the finished article, and what a treat it was! Taking the visitor on a journey through the history of stone, the tent featured an intriguing entrance leading to an almost dark area of the tent, filled with interesting examples and information. In a refreshing twist, at the end of the darkened atmospheric journey was a delightfully light and airy space, featuring an expert stone mason chiselling away at a marble carving, as well as stunning examples of Lapicida's work. Innovative, interesting, and simply stunning - Lapicida, we salute you!
