BeatWoven, “One of THE names in British craft today”, says Corinne Julius for Future Heritage 2014, returns and premiers for the first UK launch at Decorex International 2015

“Music is Pattern. Textile is Pattern. Music is Design”. Introducing BeatWoven®, a multi-award-winning label, striking a unique chord in the prestige interior design market and on a mission to bring music visually into our lives in a beautifully executed way. Its woven luxe fabrics sit at the inter-section of craft, art and design, by using its pioneering bespoke technology to reveal the unseen geometrics created by music which are fused with the traditional geometrics of woven textiles; allowing music to have its visual place in our interior story.

Selected and quoted as “One of THE names in British craft today” by Corinne Julius for Future Heritage 2014, Nadia-Anne Ricketts, the founder and creative vision behind BeatWoven, is returning to Decorex to launch two body of works. The ‘DreaMelody:  Patterns in Play’ collection consists of four visually fresh, but finely woven fabrics, translated from British pop classics and in collaboration with Harrods, naming her as one of their ‘Rising Stars’. As part of this collection, the worlds first BeatWoven Musical Chair will be presented. A 1900’s slipper chair salvaged and re-upholstered with fabric created by translating the worlds iconic classic ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ by The Beatles.

‘Riff: Tone: Beat’, the second part of BeatWoven’s ‘Patterns in Play’ series translates timeless American jazz songs - in celebration of Frank Sinatra’s 100th anniversary – into luxurious textiles that excite the senses. Wools, silks and copper yarns are mixed with a cashmere finish perfect for adding to those atmospheric interior stories including warm tones, natural textures; whiskey on the rocks with a slice of zest.

To create the fabrics, songs are played through the bespoke BeatWoven technology in order to literally translate the audio patterns into woven patterns that are woven using a jacquard loom. The design team edit the pattern to ensure its artistic integrity – some of the patterns are left completely untouched, while some have their most aesthetically pleasing elements carved out then repeated, scaled or looped to create a sublime graphic tribute to a much-loved piece of music.

Each collection offers trade fabric by the metre, so the creatively inclined can work their own magic on the textiles to add to their interior projects. Cushions are available in small or large sizes to work in perfect harmony with an existing interior. BeatWoven will be offering commission services also at Decorex International 2015, to create more personalised and site specific projects.
