Sante Cantori started the company in this fertile ground in 1976, in Camerano, a small town close to Conero. He began by using the skills of the local craftsmen to create brass beds on order for his first customers, combining comfort and beauty.
As time passed, Cantori widened its horizons and worked towards the creation of an entire collection dedicated to the bedroom. Production extended and evolved year by year and now includes all the rooms of a home, harmoniously combining different materials and processes.
The company currently manufactures large collections of furniture and accessories, such as beds with fabric upholstery, tables in various sizes, chairs and trolleys, bedside lamps, mirrors, wardrobes and tables, vases and household articles.
Driven by a pioneer spirit since 1978, Castro Lighting's long history began with the desire to distribute lighting solutions around the world. The passion for design naturally grew within, as the inspiration came from exciting trips and personal experiences of Mr. Modesto Castro.
It took numerous discoveries to gather the necessary skills and courage to gain ground and create a brand with such a strong character as Castro Lighting. The perfect combination of ethics, motivation, hard work, and passion for industrial design, as well as a fascinating journey of discovery, made Castro Lighting became internationally known.
When it comes to brass-work, the brand is famous for its singularity, extraordinary quality, and unparalleled beauty. The ultimate fusion between the authenticity of traditional Portuguese metal-work techniques, creative craftsmanship, and artistic masters that continuously deliver the next step in innovation.

At CommonRoom, we want to make high-quality, contemporary art accessible to the many rather than the few. We do this by commissioning fine artists to design original wallpapers. Wallpaper has generally been thought of as background rather than foreground – but not at CommonRoom. Our wallpapers are designed to challenge and excite. Just like every great artwork.
All our products are designed and made sustainably here in the UK. This supports British manufacturing and also helps minimise our carbon footprint.
In 2016 we launched our inaugural design from the V&A archives – a print by C.F.A. Voysey from 1918, Lioness & Palms.
