The Decorex Awards

Each year we pay tribute to the talented brands, makers and designers that bring our show to life. With categories such as Best Stand, Best International Exhibitor and Best Sustainable Product, we wish to celebrate those leading the way in design. Past winners have included the likes of Jennifer Manners, Newton Paisley, Bert Frank and VSP Interiors.

2019 Award Winners

Best New Exhibitor

Winner: Coralie Beauchamp

Judges said: "Coralie is showing a completely unique product range in classic globe shapes made from a structure composed of fiberglass and a carbon braid which is then laminated by hand with an epoxy resin. Her fashion background shines through these tailored and delicate lights.”

Coralie said: “This is my first time here at Decorex and I am extremely touched to receive this award"

Runner up: Serip Organic Lighting

Judges said: “We love the bird pendant, crafted with an artisanal quality. Lighting integrated within the glass sculpture. A playful piece with exceptional, considered craftmanship.”

Best New Exhibitor

Winner: Amy Collins

Judges said: “Amy has turned her evocative, detailed and hand-drawn artworks into beautiful, yet simple, wallpapers inspired by toile du joie in a delicate modern interpretation. She is clearly a designer to look out for.”

Amy said: “This has been an amazing experience. Decorex is a show that has been full of great opportunities for me. I was not expecting this award and feel very excited.”

Runner up: Lorna Syson

Judges said: Lorna has collaborated with the RSPB to celebrate the work the organisation does both in the UK and abroad. As birds migrate the charity’s work impacts beyond the UK and to represent this Lorna has created two designs; one featuring the Longtail Tit on English Cherry Blossom. The other depicts a Ruby Throated Hummingbird, common through the Americas, on Honeysuckle. We were impressed her work made for a really meaningful collaboration. Very impressive.”

Best New Product

Winner: Parker & Jules’ ‘Ziggy’ wallpaper

Judges said: “We absolutely loved the Parker & Jules wallpaper – it’s versatile, the kind of paper you can imagine using in a variety of environments from period property to modern homes. We really liked the colourways.”

Parker & Jules said: “Nancy comes from a fashion background. She loved this print but felt its application somehow wasn’t quite right for that world. In interiors, it works incredibly well.”

Runner up: Tori Murphy Textiles

Judges said: “Tori Murphy’s pattern is highly unusual and completely comes to life when shown as upholstery (on the chair). It’s a reinterpretation of a classical embroidery pattern that has been very effectively brought up to date.  It is interpretative, reading for some as Art Nouveau, stained glass, or faux snakeskin: a highly three dimensional design.”

Best Stand

Winner: Bert Frank

Judges said: “Excellent products, creatively displayed incorporating really fun and interactive elements that appeal to the senses.”

Bert Frank said: “It is an honour to be given this award. We have put a great deal of effort into the stand and it’s so gratifying to have that recognised. Thank you, we are delighted.”

Runner up: Porter Bathrooms

Judges said: “We liked that we could genuinely imagine living with these products, the stand really conjured context and atmosphere.”

Best Contemporary Design

Winner: Jennifer Manners

Judges said: “It is fantastic to see sustainability translated into the luxury design market in this way, using 100% plastic yarn that are as soft and durable as traditional materials.”

Jennifer said: “I am utterly overwhelmed. Sustainability in high-end design creates wider desirability, which can only be a good thing.”

Runner-up: Silvan Flooring

The Lineal Collection

Judges said: This flooring is made from production off-cuts. Flooring is a product that covers wide surface areas, and it is good to see such a well-proportioned and nicely made product, created from a sustainable material that would otherwise be disposed of.  The herringbone patterning makes it particularly attractive and usable in a wide range of interior applications.”

Winner: Faolchu

Most Stylish Product

Winner: Vaughan

Sponsored By: House and Garden

Art Pottery & Sculptural Collection

Vaughan were showing their Art Pottery & Sculptural Collection on a cohesive, intriguing and good-looking stand. This collection was original but familiar, with pretty, rounded leaf shapes and jagged, spiky designs. The Wyvern Wall Sculpture, with its little jewel-like cast reliefs, is a particularly original take on wall lights.
