Entrance Feature by The New Craftmaker
The New Craftmaker curates, commissions and sells contemporary objects and limited edition furniture rooted in the craftsmanship and narrative of British cultural heritage.
Introducing visitors to Decorex, The New Craftmaker's entrance space will display, ‘The Natural Room’.
At Decorex 2024, The New Craftmaker will display their core furniture and lighting collections and also launch new editions: boxes of blankets, bundles of basket, ceramic supper sets and a lampwork glass collection.
The Natural Room
The Natural Room features a collection of traditional and contemporary UK baskets, showcasing a range of weaving techniques and natural materials. This exhibition highlights the diverse regional basketry traditions, each reflecting its historical uses, demonstrating inventive solutions dating back to Neolithic times.
A key element of the room is Studio Amos’ striking use of heather. Two prominent pieces, "Froach Mór" and "Great Breck Heather Light," highlight the versatility of this challenging material.
In addition to basketry, The Natural Room will feature handwoven throws by Catarina Riccabona. Each throw is unique, with slight irregularities that mark handmade craftsmanship.
