Liberty. Café at Decorex

At Decorex 2021 we featured a very special collaboration at our event. We joined forces with Liberty Fabrics to form the Liberty. Café, a unique meeting place where our visitors relaxed, mingled and took stock of the exciting happenings of the show.

Liberty: A Long and Illustrious History

Liberty came into fruition in 1875, the brainchild of the adventurous Arthur Lasenby Liberty. Its London base has steadily become renowned worldwide, and this legacy has continued through to the present day. Remaining true to its heritage, Liberty has continued producing gorgeous prints, interior fabrics and designs. Above all, Liberty is recognised for its cultural collaborations, inspiring curation, and directional design. 

This year sees the launch of ‘The Modern Collector’ Wallpaper and fabric collection from Liberty Fabrics, which celebrates Liberty’s historic love of craftmanship and design. Archival Liberty prints have been reinterpreted and reworked, appearing alongside contemporary new artworks created in their London design studio. The Modern Collector sees a special focus on surface: lustre and matte effects are carefully balanced with line and tone, bold colour and hue, and beautiful, unexpected texture.

The Collaboration

The Liberty. Café was adorned with Liberty’s stunning and immediately recognisable wallpaper designs, which provided the area with an opulent undertone. The designs were carefully chosen by the Liberty Fabrics team; a jade green hue will flow through the scheme and link the designs together. The elegant florals filled the space with a warm and pleasant energy. Included in the layout was their distinguished Palampore Trail, Deco Scallop, Hera Plume and Regency Tulip. 

“Being aligned in tone and in spirit, a collaboration between Decorex and Liberty felt like an inevitability. We really are thrilled to have worked with them this year to decorate and host the café at Olympia London. I think it really added another layer to the show and provided visitors with another place to gain inspiration and relax with their peers,” says Sam Fisher, Decorex Director.
