She has exhibited across Europe including as artist in residence during the European Ceramic Context in Denmark, and graduate resident at the V&A Museum. Alice Walton, Future Heritage 2019 Alumni

Alice Walton works with coloured clay throughout its malleable states, aiming to highlight the meditative process of the material. Her sculptural and abstract forms explore complex and intense surface textures intended to intrigue. In a world that is increasingly changing minute by minute she attempts to slow down, allowing her work to steadily evolve, brick by brick. Her latest ceramic work incorporates her fascination for noticing common street objects, passed by in daily life. She investigates how they can transcend and become unusual and extraordinary objects, to form a new abstract landscape.  The repetitive nature of mark making mimics the constant review of certain objects on her daily commutes e.g. concrete bollards, brickwork and pipework.

At Future Heritage

Alice Walton exhibited an installation of porcelain wall works and a series of large scale table top sculptures at Future Heritage. She pushed her making ability to create work which was predominantly displayed on a wall. She created a large installation which consisted of three-dimensional wall tiles which showcased her spectrum of coloured porcelains. The work was inspired by the architecture of the Olympia Exhibition Hall and the surrounding neighbourhood. Alongside this, she made a series of large-scale ceramic sculptures which were encrusted with repetitive mark making to form surface pattern and texture. Customers could buy individual items or commission a different colour palette to match their interiors.

“Since taking part in Future Heritage I have gained so many more contacts. This includes direct buyers, interior designers and other makers. I was [also] seen at Future Heritage for the first time by the curator of the exhibition I am taking part in at the Mayfair Gallery during London Craft Week later in 2020.”Alice Walton
