Susie Atkinson Design

Susie Atkinson is a London-based designer of interiors and products who has worked on high profile commercial and private residential projects all over the world, including the Caribbean, Majorca, Greece, Scotland and Germany. Susie’s use of colour, combined with her passion for natural materials and different textures bring to life the interiors of private houses, hotels, clubs or boats. The studio has created many well-known spaces including Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest, Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey, Dean Street Townhouse, Soho House Berlin, and Babington House in Somerset. Susie uses her experience and broad knowledge to create spaces that are inviting, timeless and indulge all of the senses. Understanding a client’s dreams and aspirations and collaborating with them to create interiors that are individual and bespoke is at the heart of her design philosophy. Susie and her skilled team work closely with specialised craftsmen and workshops to deliver a full design service from concept to completion, focusing on enhancing the architecture of a space without compromising on a high level of sophistication and comfort. Having struggled to find individual, beautifully made pieces for her interiors projects, Susie started designing her own and has recently launched her first collection of Studio Atkinson furniture. The collections are designed to work in contemporary or traditional interiors and include upholstery, oak desks, chairs and tables, lacquer and mirrored side tables and lighting. Passionate about craftsmanship, Susie selected specialist makers throughout the UK to collaborate with on the collections, ensuring her pieces are of the highest quality. The studio has received global acclaim for its projects and recent awards include the House & Garden 2018 Pineapple Award for Hotel Design (Beaverbrook); Homes & Gardens Design Awards 2019 Best Commercial Project (Lime Wood Hotel Pavilion Suite), and the Craftmaker’s Chair was Highly Commended in the Best Furniture category; and Susie Atkinson Design was selected for House & Garden’s Top 100 list of interior designers. Susie’s love of interiors started as early as she can remember, and she was fascinated in the way that different homes and interiors can make you feel. After a brief career as a chef, Susie worked for renowned designer Chester Jones, before founding her own design studio in 2005. Susie Atkinson is currently working on residential and commercial interiors in London, Oxfordshire, the New Forest, Greece and Germany and will launch her first fabric collection in Spring 2021.
