Sustainability at Decorex

At Informa Markets we achieve sustainable commercial success through thoughtful market focus and superior results for our customers. Being a sustainable business is central to how we run our events, how we make decisions and how we do business every day.

Our continuing evolution is fueled by insight, innovation, and collaboration. We are proud of our commitment to having a positive environmental and social impact on both the communities and industries we work within.

We are committed to achieving a sustainable events industry, and will continue to be at the forefront of driving change.

Decorex powered by renewable energy

We are pleased to announce that as a part of our continued commitment to the sustainability of our event, this year Decorex will be powered by 100% renewable electricity. This means our electricity use will be carbon neutral, preventing the creation of an estimated 21.5tons of CO2, and therefore significantly reducing our events carbon impact.

Better Stands Initiative

Better Stands is our landmark campaign to reduce the waste that stands and booths at exhibitions can create. We are working with customers to phase out all disposable stands at our EMEA events by 2024.

Plus, we are looking to expand this initiative to other regions and by co-ordinating with our peers and partners in the industry.

Better Stands also shows how sustainable business can be better business too. Reusable structures not only reduce waste but they can reduce the time it takes to construct and take down stands, reduce the cost of design and construction and allow for investment in higher quality and more successful stands.

Meet the Community

Over 44 years we’ve fine-tuned the art of connecting our exhibitors with established and emerging Interior Designers, Property Developers and Buyers; thousands will join us next October and they can’t wait to meet you.

Sustainability Is Top of Our Agenda

Our aim:
is to engage everyone involved in our events with both what we are doing, and what they can do to increase the sustainability as a community.

What we are doing:

  • Making sure our stakeholders are aware of our initatives and are promoting them.
  • Keeping sustainability front and center of people's minds by hosting discussions in our Talks Programme on this topic.
  • Shouting about sustainable practices across our social media and on our blog, giving tips to our community and shining a light on eco-friendly brands.

Waste Management & Reducing Printing

Our aim:
is for everything to be either reused or recycled at the end of the show, therefore reducing both the amount of resources we use and the waste we create.

What we are doing:

  • All of our signage and carpet is recycled.
  • We carefully design our feature areas so that they create minimal waste.
  • We've cut down on our printed show materials, moving to digital badges and show information being housed in our exclusive app.

Community & Charitable Giving

Our aim:

is for all of our events to have an industry relevant charity partner, so that we support our community and ensure that our events have a positive legacy.

What we are doing:

  • By supporting our charity partners with our business resources, skills, and by raising money, we donated over £623,000.
  • Partnering with charitable organisations such as Design Havens 4 Heroes to ensure we are contributing positively to our community.

Procurement

Our aim:
is to look at the economic, environmental and social aspect of all of our purchases, to ensure the products and services we use help us achieve a sustainable event.

What we are doing:

  • Sustainability requirements are incorporated into all of our tenders and contracts.
  • We are switching to sustainable materials, such as our signage which is made out of renewable materials.

Health & Safety

Our aim:
is to ensure the safety of all onsite through implementing best practice health and safety processes.

What we are doing:

  • Leading the events industry in the implementation of health and safety.
