Decorex International 2009 is buzzing!
From the exciting arrival of the unique Hermès interior designed helicopter, to the wealth of beautiful new products on show, and this year’s industry awards for design excellence, Decorex has got off to a flying start.

Another successful year...
Hermès Helicopter lands at Decorex International

The imaginative collaboration between Hermès and Eurocopter was realised yesterday when the uniquely designed helicopter flew into the grounds of Decorex International just before the first day kicked off. The helicopter is now positioned on the Embankment side of the marquee until Wednesday, demonstrating an incredible example of how stunning interior design can reach surprising new levels. |
François Taverne, the chairman of Hermès and Philippe Harache, Senior Executive Vice President of Eurocopter were both present and talked passionately about the combination of their design, craftsmanship and engineering talents that produced this outstanding helicopter.
François commented, "It's a true partnership between two companies effectively sharing the same values about craftsmanship - because a helicopter is handcrafted as well as a handbag is."
"It's about a long relationship of a high-class product of high technology, high utilisation, high lifetime - a helicopter has a life of 30 years - and to combine this with the functionality, the pleasure, of travelling, in highest style", added Philippe.
The helicopter will be displayed until Wednesday, boasting a beautiful Hermès interior complete with stunning accessories including the recognised Hermes handbag and luggage range.
A real treasure for all Decorex International visitors to see….
Emery et Cie win idFX award

Emery et Cie have been awarded 'Best Contemporary Product' by idFX at Decorex International 2009. idFX magazine editor Kate Burnett presented Emery et Cie with the award on Monday. Kate commented “Emery & Cie caught the judges’ eye for their beautiful materials, colours and textures, in particular this grille which is delicate, even magical, despite the solidity of its material.” Other award winners at this year's show include Soane Britain, who won the House & Garden Trophy, which is awarded to the manufacturer or wholesaler of the 'Best Merchandise.' Fromental won the British Institute of Interior Design 'Best Stand Design Award' and were presented with the glamorous and exclusive 'swing tag' award made in sterling silver by sponsor Hamilton & Inches. |

As Decorex International opened for the 32nd year, to plenty of crowds, the show's exhibitors are already excited about the success of this year's show. Ed Godrich, of Godrich Interiors and the Godrich Design Collective, and designer of the entrance at this year's show, commented: "This is our 4th year exhibiting at Decorex. It is an essential date in our yearly calendar. It provides us with 8 months worth of enquries." Jane Barrett of Christopher Guy also said of Decorex International 2009, "It's a show that we will always come to. It is a must," while Pauline Dean from Nina Campbell says "[Decorex International is] the most prestigious interior design |
