Swedish wallpaper and fabric manufacturer Sandberg has launched a new range of screenprinted wallpapers, named Edward. Described as ‘a modern Sandberg collection with a traditional foundation,' the collection combines contemporary and traditional elements to offer wallpapers that feel warm and familiar.
The wide-ranging collection features11 designs, with more than 51 colourways in total. The designs reference a diverse range of eras spanning two centuries - from 18th century Sweden to 20th century New England, with stripes, checks, tweeds and plaids all putting in an appearance, alongside delicate botanical motifs.
'We’ve designed a fashionable yet nostalgic range,' explains the team behind the collection, 'which reaches out to us through the objects we’ve collected and those we remember from our childhood: the fine lining of our father’s jacket, the exquisite wild flowers we’ve lovingly pressed and preserved, the leather-bound embossed book we’ve thumbed through many times and the elegant wallpaper in our grandmother’s bedroom.'
The designs have been carefully recreated from initial pen-and-paper sketches, which are then screenprinted at the company's factory in Sweden, using water-based, non-toxic inks.
The papers go on sale later this month and are available to view at Lizzo in Chelsea Harbour, with prices starting at £56.50 per roll. Sandberg will be exhibiting at Decorex this month on stand D124.
