Handmade wallpaper specialist Fromental's head artist, Master Wang, will be recreating a Scholar’s Studio on a stand at this year's Decorex, in order to demostrate the skill that goes into the company's handpainted designs. He will paint a set of chinoiserie panels in his inimitable unconscious style, which will then be auctioned off in aid of Maggie’s after the show.
In addition, Fromental will be hosting a series of one-hour 'masterclasses' in chinoiserie painting on the stand throughout Tuesday 25 September.
“We’re very excited to showcase the exquisite craftsmanship of our wallpapers live and provide the opportunity to learn how it’s done,” adds Tim Butcher, creative director of Fromental.
The stand will be feature a range of new chinoiserie colourways, alongside a blue and white version of a traditional scenic Chinese wallpaper, composed in a similar style to Fromental’s wallcovering commissioned by the National Trust for its restoration of Avebury Manor, recently shown on BBC1’s ‘To The Manor Reborn’.
