Tim Bogan, UK Director of Modenus, the people behind the social media phenomenon which is BlogTour, and veteran of more trade shows than he cares to remember, sings the praises of the Decorex app.
There are two ways to visit a trade show. You can turn up, wander in, walk down the first aisle, get distracted by something interesting, walk across to the interesting stand over there, have a chat, grab some business cards, maybe even flirt a little, and then… where were you meant to be going next?
Or you can plan. Until now, that has meant a paper directory, or an online listing if you were lucky, spreadsheets, notebooks and discipline. And gin helped.
Decorex have come up with a very nifty app which does a lot of the hard work for you. You can download it from iTunes or Google Play for free and, if you are coming to Decorex, why wouldn’t you?
Using it you can browse the exhibitors and their products, marking the ones you are going to make a beeline for. For the hyper well-organised amongst us you can even make appointments. You can browse the seminars, planning which ones to attend, catch up with news, get yourself onto the Decorex Facebook and Twitter accounts and, once you are registered, search and interact with other visitors.
Of course, someone has to go one better. Veronika Miller, the Modenus CEO, has an even easier way of planning her time at trade shows: it’s a voice-activated system. 'Tim,' she says 'plan our time at Decorex, would you?'
This is a lot easier. If you are heading to Decorex, grab the Decorex app and browse through it in plenty of time. Or, of course, you could try the random wandering technique.
